Club Meeting - Tuesday 11th February

Welcome
The meeting was conducted as outlined in the agenda.
  • Club Chairperson, Andy Rimmer opened the meeting and informed members that four camera clubs have expressed interest in an inter-club photo shoot with BCC. The committee will respond and start putting a schedule together.
  • The weekly 52/52 challenge for 2013-14 is now closed and the finalists portfolios have been reviewed. The winner and runner-up will be announced at the March meeting. (more, see 'Other Items' below)
  • This year, the annual club weekend photo shoot will take place on the island of Inis Oirr. The date has yet to be confirmed but will depend on the sourcing and availability of accommodation. Once this is organised, members will be asked to pay a booking deposit but provisionally should express interest by putting your name on the CLUB FORUM HERE.

BCC Flickr Pool - Photo of the Month
Each month, club members registered with Flickr are encouraged to put their photos into the Boyle Camera Club Flickr Pool. From the pool, a committee member selects an image and discusses it at the beginning of the meeting. This month, Joe Kennedy selected Peter Kelly's 'Smoking Fish', taken recently during a visit to Uganda. Mary Lane selected Hugh Rooney's 'Moore Hall', a fine Great House relic from Co. Mayo.

5-Minute Photo
Des O'Dwyer selected a photo he took recently from a visit to North Mayo in the vicinity of the Céide Fields. Des was scrupulous in his analysis; how the location was identified, camera settings and use of filters, post-processing ... nothing was omitted. He made it very clear to those present that this was no casual snap shot! Very informative and presented like a pro!

Andy Rimmer took the Intermediate and Advanced Groups and discussed a 'vision' for the club in the year ahead. Here, some topics for presentations and photo shoots were noted as well as encouraging members to go forward for IPF Distinctions. On this subject, at least three club members will present Licentiate panels at the next IPF Distinctions sitting.
