Autumn Light - November Motivation

Members intending to submit images for November's Motivation - 'Autumn Light', should note the following;

From November, a maximum of TWO images may be submitted by club members for consideration in the monthly Motivation League.

Submissions should be clearly labled using the following format - CATEGORY - IMAGE TITLE - MEMBERSHIP NUMBER. Failure to comply with this format could mean images will be omitted for consideration.

There will be an amendment to our voting procedure for the Motivation League from November. At the next meeting, members will simply vote for ONE image only in each of the THREE categories (Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced). There will still be a placements for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, these will be determined by the over-all allocation of vote received.

The above amendments were agreed at a recent committee meeting and are designed to simplify submission and voting procedures.

Boyle Camera Club - AGM 2008

There was a great turn out for the October meeting of Boyle Camera Club, which also included the club’s first AGM. The evening was held in the upstairs room of the Moving Stairs in Boyle and included a finger buffet, with delicious fare supplied by chef Marek and his team.

The agenda included the regular Motivation and Photo-Shoot slideshows, prepared by Ben.

The results of this months Motivation, Abstract & Pattern, are available HERE. This month sees the beginning of a NEW League and members should ensure that they attach their NEW MEMBERSHIP NUMBER with entries henceforth. There has been some suggestions regarding amendments to the current rules - these will be formally addressed at the next committee meeting and passed on to members.
The Motivation Theme for November is; AUTUMN LIGHT. Members may get inspiration from viewing some of the splendid images in the sites below.

Tony gave a presentation titled PHOTO MAKE-OVER. A number of members photos were selected from the club's Flickr Pool and brought to the Digital Darkroom for processing. The club has recently invested in a portable Studio Lighting Kit ( Elinchrome D-Lite 2 ) and Tony introduced this at the meeting. Members are encouraged to avail of this club resource via a booking system which will be determined by the NEW club committee at its next meeting.

The AGM followed the business of the October meeting with Presentations from the Chairperson, Sean O'Dowd and other out-going Committee Members. The NEW Committee were subsequently proposed and elected. Details are available for review in the minutes from the AGM HERE.

October Photo-shoot at Castlecoote House, Co. Roscommon

Boyle Camera Club - Castlecoote Photo-shoot - October 2008

Once again, true to form, the sunshine graced another club photo-shoot, this time at the splendid Castlecoote House, just a short distance from Roscommon Town. A total of 26 club members attended the event which was organised and coordinated by Dan Lonergan and Margie Dunne. Members were greeted and guided through the house and grounds by Geoff. The House and gardens provided a rich source for an afternoon of indulgent photography. The interior of Castlecoote house is particularly noteworthy as it is lovingly and painstaking restored in minute detail and maintained to five-star standard. Each room is a feast for the eyes, having a character and atmosphere all of its own. At the end of the visit, members enjoyed high-tea and homemade scones in the luxury of the formal dining-room.
Castlecoote is one of those special places, to escape for a while and bask in the recreated splendor of an Irish 18th century country home.
